Brisset, Pearce shine in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania State Meet at Penn State

Highlights

- Hurdler Chanel Brisset wasted no time lowering the meet record in the 60-meter hurdles that was set by her former Cheltenham teammate Ciara Leonard last year. Brisset ran 8.25 seconds and moved into a tie for the No. 7 performer of all-time.

- Pennridge freshman Kouri Pearce ran 23.74 in the 200 meters to smash the meet record by more than a quarter second. Almost as surprising, she beat Pennsylvania's reigning outdoor sprint queen Dasia Pressley. Pearce also placed third in the 60 meters.

- Jordan Geist from Knoch continued with one of the most impressive junior seasons ever in the shot put, throwing 71-3.25 to break a Ryan Whiting meet record. It's the fourth time this season that Geist has surpassed 70 feet.

- Domenic Perretta of Beaver Falls ran 1:52.28 to win the 800 meters, matching the fastest time in the country so far this season.

- Senior Maddie Villalba from Central Bucks East became the first girl in the nation to dip under 2:10 indoors in the 800 meters, taking the title with 2:09.69.

- The State College boys 4x800 relay squad ran 7:48.29 to take over the national lead.

- Downingtown West had an unbeatable combination as sprinter Josh McLemore swept the 200 (US#9 21.68) and the 400 (US#16 48.44). And brothers Jaxson and Josh Hoey went 1-2 in the mile, running 4:16.94 and 4:17.45, respectively. The school scored 89.5 points (combined boys and girls).
